Refurbishing an Old Oak Table

I had been wanting a round table for our eating area for quite a long time. Every time I found one, it was either too small or too expensive. I decided on my tried a true method: buy used and paint it! I told my husband what I wanted to do and he found this little number on Craigslist just an hour later.

We paid $165 for the table and 5 beautiful chairs. The chairs are in great condition, but I'd like to paint them, too, to have a matching set. Alas, the weather has changed, so that will likely be a springtime project.

This was a simple job of sanding, priming, and painting.

  2. I love your table, too! What kind of paint did you use to get such a nice finish?

  3. Thanks, Margaret! I used Sherwin Williams ProClassic Waterbased Acrylic in off the shelf black. It's specifically made for wood and furniture and I couldn't be happier with it.

  4. Thank you so much. I can't wait to see what you do in your kitchen. Mine is similar, except a bit smaller.

  5. Yes, I love the space of the kitchen. I'm planning a beadboard backsplash and possibly(?) painting the cabinets white. It's so hard to paint over good maple cabinets!
